Adding to an older thread...
I have long suspected the o-ring on the shaft can allow the valve to suck air. A few weeks ago I was speaking with another VAF'er, whose experiments confirmed air leakage and bubble formation via a stem leak. So, I put a fix on my list of things to do at the next condition inspection.
Here it is. Not flown yet, but any future leakage is extremely unlikely.

Firewall Sheetmetal question
Had a nosewheel collapse and a prop strike. New nose wheel is getting replaced and as a precaution a new mount too. Needing guidance if it’s needed to redo the whole firewall skin or this can be repaired with a new cutout section with a row of additional rivets and doubler in a ‘U’ damaged...

I'm actually working with this part now. It goes on the inside of the doubler that goes over the carry thru spar. However, it has to get final drilled later in the process when the landing gear bracket is drilled. In this picture, it's clecoed to the inside.

I think the image attached is from the fuse kit, but I'm not sure. I thought it was F-1004T-L and F-1004T-R but cannot find such a part number in the plans (yet). Thanks, Mike
