Aero-Lites tail and position / strobe wingtip lights vs. Aeroleds

Hi

I’m finding surprisingly little information on Aero-Lites here, which is odd given that their pricing seems quite competitive.

I’m looking at using a combination of the AeroLED VX landing and taxi lights mounted in the wingtips of my RV‑8, together with the Aero‑Lites position/strobe lights in the wingtips and their tail light in—well—the tail. I’m fully aware of the FlyLEDs options and have dealt with Paul, who is excellent, but I’m not a huge fan of the way the lights sit in the wingtip. The Aero‑Lites and AeroLeds approach just looks a bit tidier to the eye. If Paul offered this style of light, I’d know exactly where I’d go.

So I’m curious: who here has used Aero‑Lites, and what has your experience been? If you’re running the same combination between aero-lites and AeroLEDs VX, even better. Photos would be very welcome.

I did message Aero‑Lites last weekend and haven’t heard back yet, which always puts me off a little. At the same time, AeroLEDs feel a bit too expensive for what they are (what isn't in our hobby?), and it seems like a good chunk of the price goes toward their very active marketing.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Rogier

Hi Rogier

Happy to endorse the Aero-Lites! I bought a set of their wing lights to evaluate as I get lots of requests for external lights. Very well made, super bright.

If you're building an -8 we have two combined Taxi/Landing lights that are specifically designed for tail draggers. Nothing else like them on the market...

I can’t provide a comparison… but only will say that you answered part of the question already. Customer support is huge to me. My installation in my RV9A was complicated by the existing holes and nutplates in all the wrong places as I attempted to install new FlyLEDS landing/position/strobe lights in the wingtips - replacing existing systems. Then - I discovered a wiring issue with the existing strobe wiring I was re-using. Through it all, Paul was patient and answered my questions and provided suggestions promptly. Actually - ridiculously fast. I fired off a question late on a Friday assuming I’d get an answer the following Monday - and I’d have to sit on my project over the weekend. Very soon (on a Saturday Morning Aussie time) Paul had already responded. His support of his product is second to none. His Lights are super bright and efficient. Count me as a very satisfied customer.

I have Aero-Lites Evolution series nav position strobe lites and their G2 Par 36 landing and taxi lights. I am very happy with them. Reliable, quiet, seem to be nice quality. Plenty bright for me.

I just put a set of Aero-lites Nav/Strobes on my Rocket. Very happy with them, and the price I paid for them.
