Wiring help needed- VPX, PPS and B&C LR3D regulator

Where's my engine????

I'm wiring up my B&C LR3D external voltage regulator. I have both the Vertical Power VPX Pro and PPS (no battery contactor). If you don't like reading posts from clueless builders who have no idea what they are doing, close your eyes and move to another thread fast :-)

I need help with pins 3 and 6 on the voltage regulator. Since I have a VPX and a PPS, I'm using the diagram (left side below) supplied by Vertical Power for use with a B&C LR3D voltage regulator. I ran a wire from pin 3 on the voltage regulator to the PPS B-lead post (and included a 1 amp inline fuse). That seemed pretty straightforward until I looked at my vendor supplied wiring diagram for the VPX (bottom below).

J12-10 is labeled "BUS SENSE PWR"
J12-11 is labeled "PRI ALT FIELD PWR"

I think J12-11 is supposed to go to pin 6 on the voltage regulator. But, what is J12-10 for? Is that intended for a system that does NOT have a PPS (diagram on the right below)? I don't think the wire coming out of J12-10 is needed in my system. And yes, I did ask my avionics shop about this but with the Axis roll out and Osh around the corner I don't think I'll hear back from them any time soon.

By the way, it's bad enough when you don't know anything about regulators, batteries, alternators, etc. But when each company uses a different term for the same pin, it gets really confusing really fast.

I would wire per pps diagram, so i think you would not use the pin 10 on the vpx per your current vender diagram. Depending on how much work it is to either reuse that wire or run a new one would be the next question I would ask myself. I have a pps with a vpx, and I did a lot of research and pulled the extra wires needed for the pps myself.

Thanks. I'll keep the wire from pin 10 in place (unused) just in case I want to repurpose it for something else later. I'd need to go into the VPX config file and remove references/values for the wire.

Yep plug into the vpx and set it to always off and be sure to wrap the other end with electrical tape or similar.
