Wing tip prep

The wing tips on my 7A came with some minor gel coat voids in the area of the cut out for position lights. Other than that the gel coat is in good shape. Is there something I should be doing to prep them for paint other than roughing them up ?

Sorry nobody answered you. I didn't notice your post till today.

Hold the tip up to a bright light. You should be able to see voids in the gel coat. You may have to puncture them and see how big the voids really are. Sand the area around the voids and clean the area with acetone. Fill with epoxy and micro filler.

Sand the entire tip agressively and clean. You can use Rage autobody filler for the small area imperfections.

We discussed the glass a week or so ago and all agree it is pretty crappy.
