Saturday morning PIREP. N.TX.
Hard to beat Saturday morning’s WX here in N.TX. Winds calm and 60*F. Lubed some hinges and tailwheel hardware before cranking. Oil change next time out...
The solar farm (map) out near Sanger, TX. Note ‘Bird Dog’ grass strip (E58) on the right side. Old meets new…
Short vid of the Sun's reflection on the collectors. Default stabilization in my iPhone 14 Pro Max is kind of amazing. Holding the phone in my hand.
Lazy lefts and rights with the power pulled way back, working fundamentals of coordinated ball and altitude. Couple of rolls and wing overs up near TS74 before turning back to slosh the fluid in the semicircular canals around a bit. I'm glad I have an acro model - I enjoy it.
Quite a few RVs in the Texas skies around 0900.
I can hear the radial of a T-6 passing near my home as I type this.
A good morning for flying here in N.TX. Highlight of the day (sims later).

Mid year quick inspection: pulled rear tailcone cover for a look see. Make sure no tail fatigue cracking since only 300 hours old. All good.
Checked out burn area in so cal. I was fortunate and only lost a previously sold classic car.
Headed over to Catalina for some hold practice and bison burger lunch.

Had a beautiful flight in the -3 over to the Central Valley to visit HFS and study his Rocket’s Firewall Forward installation to get some ideas for my own…there was a bit of smoke and haze from the big fire down by Ventura, but Yosemite nevertheless never fails to impress!
