So I recently purchased a RV6 kit that had been a stalled project for some time, suffice to say some items were lost or misplaced. Most items have been accounted for but one are was the flap actuator, rather than getting a used one I ordered the Vans Retrofit kit and im looking for anyone that has done this to there RV6. Im at the stage to install the flap actuator so any input would be appreciated, the Vans kit is tailored more for the RV7. Thanks again for the help and suggestions.

I assume the project came with an electric flap torque tube (not a manual one yet to be modified!)
Instructions are pretty much the same for 6 & 7 airframes

Reach out to Pat Hatch (Advertiser here) PH Aviation...He is a long time friend, and has an RV-6 he built with electrics, as well as markets Actuators and relay boards ect. I'm sure he has seen every feasible scenario on an RV-6.

What exactly is the benefit of the replacement weldment? Can't the existing flap handle be modified to accept the actuator?
I am considering retrofitting my -6 and would like an opportunity to review drawings or descriptions of the changes that need to be made before I order the retrofit kit. Do drawings exist?
Thanks,

The old manual flap actuator can be modified or you can just buy the new weldment from vans. The cheap, but longer way will be getting some 4130 plate and making your attachment point, cutting off the old handle and welding on a new part. The more expensive way, but maybe shorter, is getting on the phone and ordering the parts at Vans.
