I'm continuing to learn my way around the RV-8A I bought back in October. While my propeller was out being overhauled, I measured the control travels. All looked good and were within the construction manual requirements, but my elevator trim tab seems to be on the low side. The construction manual has this chart. My trim tab moves from 17 degrees up to 20 degrees down, full throw. That seems like a fairly low range given the max is 25 degrees up to 35 degrees down, but I'm not seeing any issues in flight. I have a rather forward CG in solo flight due to 180HP/CS prop, and I've flown some pretty big guys in the back seat, so I feel like I've seen the range of situations. Am I overthinking this, or is there something I'm missing? Any other thoughts?
BTW, I almost bought a digital level, but realized that the "Measure" app on iPhone has a digital level, and it works great for this, except for the rudder measurement.
