Tracking thread for Op Lim updates and new Light sport certs

I agree completely with Scott on the Ops Lims and AWC.

Of interest, however, I got a noe from a fellow whose Kitfox I inspected and certificated a month or two ago He is applying for his Repairman Certificate, adn the FSDO aid that they needed to come out and inspect the airplane again as part of the Repairman’s Certificat eprocess. I am not familiar with the guidance related to that, but had not heard of it before - maybe something has changed in their guidance… but this is from the same FSDO (Vegas) that keeps passing out my name as Nevada’s only DAR - but they are telling folks that I can issue all sorts of things that I don’t have the function codes for. Methinks there is some learning that needs to be done at the FSDO.
That’s really weird.
Seems to me that someone could get a Repairman’s Certificate without even owning an airplane (just couldn’t work on one until they did (for a LSR-I)).
Sounds like the FSDO is a bit confused.

The Repairman’s Certificate is good for any AB EXP you own or will own. Will they come out every time you purchase another EAB aircraft?

My above statement is not true.... I was thinking of LSR-I.

I need to make a correction here.... Starting with this post... https://vansairforce.net/threads/tr...-light-sport-certs.239749/page-3#post-1935190
I thought the the Kitfox owner was asking for his LSR-I cert...... He was asking for his repairmen's cert after building his RV. Paul did the inspection and the paperwork.... FSDO missed this fact, is my guess.

After almost exactly two months since application, I received my new amended AWC and Ops Limits with the allowance for LSRI to perform the CI and a change to the phase 1 testing area. It got hung up for a few weeks on the program letter wording. After that was revised, it went through in just a few more days. Interestingly, I had originally copied a buddies program letter almost verbatim, but the letter they requested in the end looked noting like that letter. Same FSDO, different inspector. His application only took four days start to finish. Go figure.
The new ops limits don't read exactly as my old ones, but seem to have all the important areas covered and are not more restrictive.
They did add section 15.
"15. This aircraft is prohibited from flight with any jettisonable store or externally mounted equipment unless the equipment is mounted in a manner that will prevent in-flight jettison." That goes on for a long paragraph about explosive bolts and other things associated with jettisonable stores. I guess I won't be installing drop tanks anytime soon. 😜
