Extra paper routes for food, shelter and clothing require me to be away from the keyboard a little bit this weekend. So I pushed out Monday’s edition during the window when it was available. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend and that you got to spend some time with your RV project or plane.
If time allows, I'll publish an afternoon edition on Monday.

That’s similar to what I have. Canopy is off right now, but with the pins engaged and locked I have 5/8” protruding.

Status Update …David Paul RV-3B
It looks like I worked roughly three hours last month. Believe it or not, though, I got the mixture control hooked up.
…I attached one of the carburetor throttle and picture fittings from Van’s, and since this is an RV-3B, I needed to do some trimming. The cut edges didn’t have the white powder coating so I got the bottle of touch-up paint that I’d bought long ago from Van’s. Looks like they changed the powder-coating color because the tough-up paint is gray and the fitting is white.
…After cutting, deburring, drilling and so on, I got the silly fitting to fit. The mixture appears satisfactory now, so on to the throttle.
…Incidentally, there are several options for firewall pass-through fittings for the control cables. I chose p/n 05-15705 from Aircraft Spruce. It’s a compact steel collet and nut arrangement that works great and is easy to use. The one caveat is that it doesn’t offer any way to bring an engine control through the firewall at an angle, just perpendicularly. So if you use this device bear that in mind with your planning.
…Sorry no photos yet.
…When I said that I got badly slammed, it was really worse than that. Ultimately I turned some things over to a hired manager to deal with; I'm easing out of my second 30 year career. I'm not completely free yet but maybe in another year. Now l need to get my C180 back in the air after its May annual.

I use mdf. You will want to drill into whatever you use, so don’t make it furniture! For skin assembly and such I use a piece of the cheap astoturf. Not carpet. The chips fall through it so you’re not grinding them into the skin.

Milestone: Canopy Finished …Triggerf16
Finished my Canopy. Need to climb inside and remove some tape and glue squeeze out. It is on the tape and not the bubble. Still have wax on the canopy in case I got an epoxy glob on there.
Need to work on firewall forward for a while.

Tire Pressure Monitoring Valve Stem Caps + Bluetooth
…bjdecker PIREP
I guess I'll write a review -- I bought the FOBO's from a friend of mine. I put 50psi in the tires, and installed the caps as directed, paired with the app and verified that they worked.
Fast forward two weeks and each tire had lost ~3 psi -- no big deal, difference in OAT in the morning vs afternoon, heat soaking in the hangar, etc etc.
Fast forward another two weeks and each tire was now reporting about 43psi (42.4 and 43.2). ?
At the end of two months, my tires are down to ~35PSI. !!?
Since both tires are losing pressure at about the same rate, I believe there is a slight leak in the caps. ...but....fatal? probably not. Nuisance? Well, depends upon perspective -- before the TPMS, I had to look at the tire and make an educated guess about the state of inflation, pull the pants off and verify/re-inflate. Now I open an app on the phone, look at the number, pull the pants off and re-inflate.
Neat-O factor -- 10
Useful -- take 'em / leave 'em.
I suppose the most useful feature is being able to sample the tire pressure in flight, prior to landing. But do I? mmmm...not so much.

Aileron Rib Rivet Issue Cherry Max Rivet?
I'm having a super difficult time getting the AN470-4-4 spar/ rib rivets set on the inboard portion of the aileron. I have managed to drill out and actually get 3 of them in. The forth however, is proving to be a pain and after multiple tries with even a 5-5 continuing to bend over. At this...

Canopy lock pin
Hey All How far is the canopy lock pin supposed to stick into the canopy frame when in the locked position? Mine barely gets past the opening of the hole on the aluminum frame so all the retention is being done by the delrin blocks. Is this correct? Showing full pin travel from the back. There...

Wing Pins
the joy of fitting the wings. the agony of the massive retaining pins not fitting. I got help and installed the wings to what i consider a very nice fit. this would be chapter 38is. The wing retaining pins fit the holes for the first, left, wing spar hole for about 1/2 their length and then do...

Lycoming Defect....Can I fix this?
As I get ready for my first engine start, I noticed a drop of preservative oil on the floor yesterday. I identified the source as the drain back fitting on cylinder #3. I figured I'd just remove, re-dope, and reinstall it today. I loosened the fitting only 1 1/4 turns and it came out of the...
