Please do your part to help keep VAF free of politics (it’s #2 on the posting rules page). I enjoy the “why did you delete my post” back and forth less than you might think.

Wing Walk on Step
…rockitdoc
Painted the steps with Wing Walk Compound yesterday and unmasked them today. Came out nice. The color is called black, but it's really very dark gray (charcoal). Anyway, it works well with the rest of the livery, I think. The stuff is basically paint with lots of sand in it. Takes a lot of stirring to get the sand up from the bottom of the can, but not bad. Put it on with a disposable brush from Ace. It takes about 4 hours to cure. I used about two brushes semi full for the steps. The wings will take a bit more, but I will have lots left over for touch ups, if needed. The smallest quantity from Spruce is 2 qts for $32, so if anyone wants some, I'll be glad to share a quart for $16 plus shipping.

Still building but panel is done for now. I'll be adding a Garmin GNC-355 for IFR later and possibly a second screen; all wiring already in place.

POSTING RULES
VAF Forum Posting Rules Welcome! For 99.9% of the world, our RVs are a hobby. An escape. But online these days, it seems the medium can bring out the worst in some folks. I certainly don't profess to understand the dynamic. Having said that, I require this to be a no-drama environment...

Voltage Sensor wire for B&C Regulator?
I'm installing my B&C L40 Alternator, and LR3D-14 Regulator in my RV8. I've got a shunt right on the firewall between the alternator output and the buss. Rather than run the terminal #3 voltage sensor wire all the way to the buss, can't I just jump off the buss side of the shunt? It would be...

Pre-Flight close call
Since I’m in the process of building the 10, I have been renting 172’s from the local flying club. I hate rentals! Yesterday confirmed it. I wanted to take my wife to Nelson BC for the day as it was our anniversary. I went to the airport ahead of time to preflight the 172 and make sure it was...

Removing old VOR antenna
I have a still somewhat new-to-me RV9-A that has an old VOR nav antenna that is no longer needed on this aircraft. First, is this difficult to remove and secondly, what is the recommended method to fill the open space left once removed so weather and bugs don't get in?

Is my RV3A Slow?
Hello, Seems you guys talk about higher speeds than I see. At 2700rpm / 7600 DA, I was seeing 159 TAS. Does that seem slow to you? I have an O320 with an after market Injector - The previous owner said 160hp. And a Catto Prop. Not sure which pitch but Catto website says they'll all do the same...

MIlestone! Installed the canopy. I takes three people. One inside to guide the canopy release pin into the canopy hinges and two people on either side to guide the canopy into the hinges while holding it upright. So, now it's on to finishing the wings!

You only running 1 comm? Sorry, missed this back then. Yes, only one comm. After many years experience in my last plane with a -255 with monitor function as well, I am quite comfortable with a single comm and a handheld backup in the cockpit (and have decided radio navigation is not a...
