Question about wiring the WH-P30-1 trim wire on the AV-6000 side
Hello guys, I have the Garmin VFR package with autopilot, and I'm currently working on wiring the main harness. I'm a bit confused about the correct way to populate the WH-P30-1 d-sub pins on the AV-6000 side. The KAI mentions that with AP, the white and black wires should go to pin 9 & 6...

WDYDWYRTW? April 3-5 2026
Starting this one, because Doug is dragging a little behind and I have a cool flight to add! My son and I have a thing for good crawfish - and I had today off from work, and he was out of school. Low weather across most of Texas, but a non-issue for me with my instrument ticket. We loaded up...

To give you a size reference, the one I've got is 6 3/4" long, not including the air fitting. A swivel adapter and lightweight poly hose are helpful here. Small electric ratchets exist, but the Milwaukee ones I've played with are probably 2x the size once you install the battery!
Re-attaching fuel tank (spar fasteners)
I have a small slow leak somewhere in my left fuel tank. The original owner/builder had already pulled the tank off to try to patch it once so at least the paint has already been cut. I have spent quite a bit of time researching the plans and online to figure out how to remove the tank and am...

EZ-DRILL For Safety Wire
Here's a little "fixture" I made to drill a couple of 4mm - .7mm "Cheese" head Phillips stainless screws with a #54-.055 twist drill bit. Since the head is so "short" I had to have a way to more precisely drill the holes in the middle. So I drilled and tapped from the backside to allow...

Recognize these bushings?
I just finished inventory of the power plant kit and these were in one of the bags of hardware. Unfortunately I don’t remember what bag they came out of. There wasn’t anything listed in that bag that matched these so I set them aside. Thanks

Another heavy wing thread...
My RV8 (bought not built) has a slightly heavy right wing- (about 3 gallons worth which Vans considers minor). But there's a few other factors at play- the right wing, everything lines up nicely- Flap is UP (measured by straightedge on bottom of wing), aileron clamped to flap, aileron aligned...

My Journey Begins - Kit # 125
Picked up my Kit number 125 today from ABF trucking in Taylor (Detroit) Michigan. Crating was exceptional. Survived the long journey from Van's. Just started the inventory process. Numbering system is taking a bit of getting use to. I liked the -L & -R for left and right that was used on the...

Get the cap all the cool kids are wearing! I don’t get a penny. It’s around $15. $5 more if you want your N-number on the back (I put 'STAFF' on the back of mine because it makes me laugh. Put STAFF on yours too if it makes you smile). And down the road $10 to the charity of your choice...
