RE: Location of Second Comm Antenna
…12vaitor reply
I added my second comm antenna on top. Based on the antenna drag number I ended up with a doubler under the skin along with two J-channels between the frames to stiffen the thin skin. Adding another COAX from the front panel was another problem to be solved due to the limited space in the tunnel snap bushings. Issue with the bottom is I already have IFF, ADS-B and COMM antennas there, plus switching from bottom to top helps in some situations where I have poor comms.

we have seen/heard of vapor issues when mounting the transducer to the firewall. WE did some hoses for a client several years ago where Don suggested the transducer be mounted about 3 inches from the servo. Updraft FM150. For reference, the next pic is of our revised version of our RV10 install.

I used this stuff, called DeBond, but not sure how widely available it is. I tried the methylene chloride stuff as everything else I could get my hands on, but nothing would really touch the epoxy primer on my plane except this DeBond stuff.
I slathered it on and let it sit for 24 hours (it was cold when I was doing it) and when I came back the paint, and primer, was literally falling off the airplane. Wish Id discovered it earlier.
No nasty fumes either.

Canopy hinge question
Long story why but I ended up having to remove my canopy during the condition inspection. When looking to put it back on, I see that one of the hinges seems to have a pin that I don’t see on the other side. I can’t find anything in the plans mentioning an extra pin on the hinge and it...

Location of Second Comm Antenna
'morning, I have an RV-12 with Skyview D1000 and Garmin SL40 comm radio. I want to add a second comm radio (considering the PS Engineering PAR200B audio panel with the Trig TY91L remote mounted radio). The existing comm antenna is as per KAI 42M-07: mounted underneath, offset from centerline...

WTB: lycoming 360
Please help! Last week the front seal pushed out of my RV-4 in flight. Good news: I was able to glide back to my home airport from 10,500’. Bad news: The airplane became a glider. Looking to find any zero time of overhauled O, or IO-360. Can be complete, or in longblock form. Thank you in...

Tips for match drilling into stainless steel
Hi guys, I just started the flaperon and did a bad job drilling from the skin into the stainless steel counterbalance. The drill bit walked about too much. I think this is the first time for me to match drill into steel. Before trying it again, I'd like to seek tips to do a good job...

Hot Fuel issue
I have a non-RV experimental with a lycoming IO-360 with a Bendix RSA Fuel Injection. I am in phase one flight testing with about 20 hours on the enigine. I am starting to fix a hot fuel issue. I have a very tight cowl/baffle installation and a very tight engine intake. So I have very...

Matco Brake Identification
Any old-time F1 guys know what model Matco brakes were shipped with the early kits? My kit is Serial #26 - well before they started shipping with Groves, but these Matcos have no identifying model number, and when I go to the Matco site to find information, all of the old designs have no...

Going down the Paint Stripper wormhole
Hoping to find something local, but not finding anything with methylene chloride, which is commonly recommended on this platform. The most common stripper locally available is Klean Strip Ultra, Ingredients: 109-99-9 60.0 -80.0 % Methanol {Methyl alcohol; Carbinol; Wood alcohol}...
