Furnace Creek, Stovepipe Wells update
I visited the Stovepipe Wells Airstrip on Jan 01 this year. The runway is okay. There should be no worry about the wheelpants. There bumps across the runway surface that will give the RV a few jolts at the touchdown zone but they aren't as menacing when the plane slows down since I was landing uphill. Here is a picture with wheelpants untouched post landing.

storm_pilot’s Rotisserie
I mounted with just clecos installed, worked fine but I wouldn’t sit in it like that.

RE: Starter Motor - Rotax 9-Series Engines
…Piper J3
I’m doing Condition Inspection on my legacy RV-12 with Rotax 912ULS and taking my own advice to check security of starter motor mounting bolts. It appears that the 5mm mounting studs have a flat washer and a nyloc nut. No problems in 950TT operation, but I will be applying Torque Seal and have already added inspection item to Condition Inspection Checklist.

Furnace Creek, Stovepipe Wells
A couple of Cheeseheads :) from Wisconsin are planning to land at Furnace Creek and Stovepipe wells next week. Just wondering what the condition of both runways are. Have any of you landed at either place in the last few weeks? Please let me know what your experience was. Thanks!! Rick George

Is this going to rub?
Hello, I am rigging up an oil cooler ala Showplanes, and at this point, the upper edge of the oil cooler is about .100" away from the cowl at the closest point. For reference this is about 5 inches forward of the firewall and the skybolt fasteners holding the cowl on. Lets hear any war stories...

When to rotisserie? RV8
I’m at the stage of putting fuselage/tail cone together for the last time. Can I put it on a rotisserie with skins and longs cleco’d and then rivet, or do I need to rivet first. What is best practice for hanging firewall from rotisserie pre-engine mount? Thanks
