…tail fairing reply
I did the wrap around tail fairing on most of the RV’s I’ve built and to make it easy to remove it, I had to modify the back end because of interference with the trailing end of the HS. I just cut off the bottom portion of the aft part of the fairing. I still attach that piece as per plans, but it connects to the main upper portion of the fairing with a clevis arrangement. The two parts just slip together and stay there, held in position by the screws that hold them to the empennage. Pictures will explain. My fairing is held on the airplane with just three screws on each side. I think it would stay there in flight with only one screw on each side at the aft end of the fairing. That aft lower piece that was cut off pretty much stays there permanently. No need to ever take it off.

Tail fairing
Whats the best way to deal with this 1/8” gap between leading edge and fairing? Just on the right side. Used a heat gun and have it all trimmed up and looks great except for this little area. Just want to build a little hook to capture the fairing. Thanks guys Arnie

Bottom cowling initial fit - is this normal?
After sweating bullets trimming and fitting the top cowling, I've positioned the bottom cowling and wanted to ask if what I'm seeing is typical. In the attached photos, the lower edge of the blue tape is aligned with the scribed line and the top edge of the inked line shows the top cowling...

Firewall flange
Currently working on mounting the firewall to the fuselage on a 7A. I spent hours yesterday meticulously mocking it up, measuring and measuring…and measuring the 5/8 setback. I finally drilled the flanges to the side skin. All turned out well except for the one top hole (or bottom as it’s...

Flap torque tube
I'm currently installing the flap torque tube and handle in my 4. I have marked the seat where Van's suggests to mount the lock blocks, but only get travel from 0-20°. The flap actuating arm hits the gusset on F-6. Am I missing something or does the gusset need to be relieved more?
