Grateful…
…for what we have here. I got the news Friday on Sonex closing their doors (https://www.sonexaircraft.com/), and like a lot of people, immediately thought of all the folks that are affected by it. It just hurts. Over the timespan of 5 minutes or so the emotion turned to ‘that could have been...

10 foot flap brake
Made an extra long sudo brake for the 9’2” long flap top skins, which Vans only folds as far as a real brake will go. Also rebuilt my original sudo brake which is now over thirty years old.

What MOSAIC Means for RV Owners
The FAA’s biggest regulatory shift in 20 years is here. Here’s what actually changes and what doesn’t.
What MOSAIC Means for RV Owners
…just published. The FAA’s Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification rule, known as MOSAIC, took effect in phases beginning October 2025. Aviation media has called it the most significant regulatory overhaul since the Sport Pilot and Light Sport Aircraft rule was introduced in 2004...

So the epoxy with micro works well. Even though I used the 206 slow epoxy (next step: buy the 209 extra slow hardener) it only gave us about 10 minutes before it started to harden, with spring here and the temps warming up. But a dab of epoxy with a toothpick held vertically works well, and it sands down nicely with 220 then 400 grit. Also needed is a scale that goes to .01 grams to measure the epoxy in small batches.
The shop is really filling up. Once the aileron weights and counterbalance tubes show up I can get the ailerons finished. And I expect to have the rivets filled on the flaps and ailerons next weekend. Hopefully those parts can then go out to the hangar.

It's possible the Arduino or the Pololu DRV8801 driver board on the AV-60000 Power Module are going bonkers. They are both powered by the Trim/Start fuse, and are rebooted when you pull and reinstall the fuse. It could also be the small voltage regulator that powers the Arduino.
Look at the AV-60000 schematic and you will see all of them.
Intermittent Trim..... Solved !
Hello VAF Team, Our RV-12iS has developed an intermittent trim. I have inspected all the usual connections etc. The only constant is that when you cycle power via either the master or pulling and reinstalling the fuse, the trim then works again. The aircraft if it is doing circuits, will fail...

Cowl front alignment 45-07 (Fiberglass)
I have read a bunch of threads and I’m still concerned I’m going to start sanding away fiberglass that I will need later. I have some gaps by the center backplate sides of both half of the cowls. I am assume I am supposed to start relieving the area in my pointer finger to bring that together...

Exhaust hangs too low
I recently did my first condition inspection and. have been trying to pay attention to anything wrong. I noted that the pilot side exhaust touches the bottom cowling. I can push it back up but it does not stay. I suspect some heat damage. It took some time for me to try and better understand...

Mann filter - the good, the bad, and the very bad
I cut open my Mann Filter 940/4 yesterday and found some interesting things. The good is that the anti-drainback valve works really well. After days of just sitting, it still had a lot of oil in it. This is not the same with a Champion, in my experience. The can doesn't seem as strong as a...

Throttle Bracket Drawing
I'm on the final stages of my RV-8 with I0-360-200 with horizontal induction. I saw a throttle bracket that I like and plan to fabricate one. See attached the photo. Does anyone have a drawing of this bracket they could share with me? Even a rough sketch showing hole locations would save me...

Bridging bushing gaps
I messed up when setting the width of my stick bushing / stick base and made it too narrow. Now there are gaps between the bushing and the mounting bracket. I ordered a new stick base last July but it’s backordered and the shipment date keeps getting pushed out. I’m wondering if it would be...

14A LGC gear brake line routing
Unless anyone has a better idea, I have 2 routing options to run the lower brake line to Beringer calipers. I prefer the upper route if it won't interfere with the wheel fairing. Any constructive criticism is welcome. See pics.
