Well, the front arrived. I’m at the ‘X’. Last night lightning struck a house 4,400’ from us and burned to the ground. Hope the bad Wx that rolled through the middle of the U.S. didn’t impact you.

At Larry's suggestion I also just use a maroon pad with bon ami and scuff untill break free, then rinse. Inexpensive and no toxic chemicals. Never had an adhesive issue.
Wife lets me do most parts in the laundry tub and then layout on counter to dry.

Reviving this thread as I've found a few similar leaks- Condition inspection today and the Right tank (RV-8) sending unit gasket has some blue slime. Left tank the rivet on the access plate is weeping.
The left tank had been removed and resealed by the previous owner, that sending unit *might* be prosealed directly to the inspection plate as some of the threads on here suggest- I didn't verify before I put the fairings back on.
Is it worth trying to seal that weeping rivet from the outside by using the vacuum method or just covering the rivet head in proseal? or remove both sending units, seal the rivet shop head from the inside, and reinstall? If the sending unit still has a gasket, it may be worth it to remove that to seal the rivet from the inside and prevent future gasket leaks?

Another example of a hydrodip panel.

So I used a 90 degree drill to do it. Started small with a #45, then went up in stages when I was happy with the hole.
It’s a strange one as the hole is not in the middle of the longeron, it’s in the middle of the horizontal vertex when measured from underneath, and you can’t see the longeron as it’s buried under a load of other metal.
It took me 4 weeks to build up the courage to drill those holes!
