…return line vent setup
I installed my vent and return last night.
Vent is in the recommended spot. The advice I got from TS was to put the return somewhat directly above the supply port near the top of the rib, so the hoses are symmetrical.
So I've put it above, but slightly forward due to the space available. Inside, I'll attach some tubing and run it forward to the tip of the tank

…Matco WHLBE9 dual piston calipers followup
We got the milled down brake plates from Matco. Installation was pretty straightforward, but we did have to ditch the 13/32" spacers for the wheel pant brackets that are called out in the plans. This required us to put in some shorter AN4-7A bolts and used some normal and thin washers to get the correct 1/16" gap between the brake disk on the wheel and the wheel pant bracket. We also had to file off a little bit of the wheel pant bracket to allow the caliper to clear underneath it. We also got new O-rings in the calipers, rebuilt one of the master cylinders and then got the brakes bled with new Royco 782 fluid. No more binding on the brake pads and firm pedals.

New brake plates with milled ends to realign the geometry for the calipers to correctly float around the brake disk.

WD-716 tip-up canopy frame instructions - I am confused
The instructions for preparing the frame and fitting the canopy skin start with the following: «When the forward ribs of the Wd-716 canopy frame assembly are manufactured, the flanges do not form to the necessary 90 degrees. Use a file or belt sander to remove some material on the aft edge of...

New Engine - throttle body installation
Just installed new 540 and the throttle body was shipped uninstalled. There currently is a cover on the engine case where the throttle body attaches to (see pic). The engine was shipped with some sort of oil/preservative that flows out when this cover is loosened. I have a couple questions...

Baffle Mod
I went with a mini-duct per a later DanH post ..it was easy to make and gives more cross sectional area for the air to get through. YMMV, but my #3 has no cooling issues. I did a similar thing on the front of #2, tucked behind the IO-360 snorkel. The only cooling mod I had to do after...

Return fuel line fitting location on the tank
Is #3 a good location for the return fuel line (for an electronic fuel injection system)? I think I saw all three variants (marked #1, #2 and #3) used by different builders, and looking at the plans there doesn't seem to be much difference to me. In terms of plumbing, it will be routed aft to...

Harness layout (how to start)
I see all these pics of beautiful wire harnesses payed out on a board with lables and clamps just waiting to be installed. I have a board- it is blank. Where do I start? I have loads of wire and a good schematic from Stein. All my equipment is mounted in the plane. I even have Most of the...

Terminal Blocks
I put terminal blocks in place for my connection between the wing and fuselage wiring. Do I need to use Loctite on these screws? The terminals seemed like a very straight forward solution to making the connection from the wings, but if I'm wrong and it's a terrible idea, I'm all ears.

Anyone using the Matco WHLBE9 dual piston calipers on an RV-7A/RV-9A?
I'm helping another RV-9A owner with some braking issues. First off, I have been in contact with George at Matco and he acknowledges the issue and is looking for a solution. He thinks that other RV's have also been using this dual piston caliper setup, but isn't sure, so I'm asking here. Here...
