…Flew Tue morning around the local area for a half hour enjoying the cooler temps and post-storm viz - what RVators do. Mental gyros all up. A 14 knot, 90* xwind kept the model ’65 Mk I brain focused. Half flaps and stirring that pot in the flare, using most of the runway. A challenge, and fun! Video of that from the top of the canopy looking straight down would be pretty interesting to watch.
…Susie’s in the pic showing the most landscape (she volunteers in a hospital in the FOV). Downtown Fort Worth and the windmill generators up near Gainesville both visible and sharp from 2,000’ (they’re 50nm apart). Grateful to get to fly. Last pic is the cockpit ready for the next hop sometime down the road, when the schedule allows. Supposed to be in the sim for a few, but scheduling called and said the client got sim-sick (green) on his first hop and had to leave. Hope he gets better. It does do that to some.
…22 years since first flight in my RV-6 (thanks again Jay P and Alex D!) and still the best airplane, hobby, and community in the world.
…Thanks for letting me share the journey with you. Grateful. 🙏

Marc’s DIY Ignition Wire Seals
I just couldn’t stomach the cost of the plastic baffle wire bulkhead’s so I made some from scrap .063 aluminum and some grommets. Total cost less than $5. Here are some pix.

Shunt PIREP …rapid_ascent
I didn't see what model you are building anywhere so there may be some differences between models. Mine are mounted below the battery on the firewall adjacent to the main battery and starter contactors. I also made a doubler that I installed on the cabin side for additional support.
The G3X can read 2 current shunts so you should be good to go there.

How it started / How it’s going
…FlyingDiver (RV-12)
How can I tell the difference between F-01247D and F-01247F? I lost whatever was marking them originally, and there’s nothing in the Kit Part Index, Packing List, or Web Store that gives the length of each cable? There’s about 5” difference between them.

VAF to the rescue once again! Finish kit had all 4 of these cables plus F-01239-1 (2) in a single zip lock bag with part numbers on the bag but nothing to identify the individual cables. And no there is no mention of length in the KAI's, parts list or packing list. And yes it does make a difference which goes where and its not intuitive looking at the plans. I suspect its to offset the turnbuckles so they don't hit each other. Beware when you get to 32iS-U6 step 1. C is the short cable and looks like it runs the longest distance, Yep I got them reversed the first time, thought inquiring minds would like to know, save some curses...:>)

Q: I have never worked with fuel tank fittings before so this may sound like a dumb question. I'm building an RV-8. The fuel pickup tube fitting is supposed to have an anti rotation bracket, but the plans do not indicate one for the vent line. I read somewhere that rotation is not as much of a concern when the fixed nut part of the fitting is outside of the tank (as it is on the vent line fitting) because you can hold it in place with a second wrench when tightening down the line. Even if that's true, would it be safer to have an anti rotation bracket on the vent line fitting just in case so the seal doesn't get broken at some point?

A: It uses the straight bulkhead union AN832-4D with a T-1010 anti-rotation bracket.
