Common cold over a week ago, and the sleeping respiration rate is just now back in the normal band. Fever broke in a day and a half, and the resting heart was normal in 72 hrs, but the sleeping respiration took a long time to get back to my baseline (I wear a Whoop). Good to be mostly back.
Hope you had a nice weekend.

Avionics components installed during empennage and fuselage build
I’m at the point of a 95% empennage and fuse is starting to come together. I’m beginning to wonder if some parts of the avionics package should be installed during these stages for easier install. I’m at section 27 firewall right now but with regard to AP and trim controls I don’t know when...

Rod end edge distance?
Today I constructed the pushrod for the elevator on my RV-7. when checking for the edge distance for the rivet holes on the rod ends, I realized that I don't recall doing that for the aileron pushrods that I fabricated a long time ago. Now I am wondering. From my build log I had primed the...

Meditations on a Grounded RV
I. Teardown What does it mean to savor the fast, fleeting, and final hours on the tach before the engine goes idle and the last puffs of burnt fuel begin to fizzle into a wide and far-reaching silence? What sense does one have of eternity when, with a single glimpse, there is captured high...

Ball-park estimate for paint job?
For those that are thinking about doing their own paint work, I'd suggest hitting the local auto salvage and buying the cheapest metal fender and hood or trunk lid you can get and use it for practice. Do the prep work and paint it white and experiment. Then sand it all down or strip it and then...

AndAir Failure
AndAir PX375 / Revision #7 Disassembled the non working pump for investigation. There is a composite ring that spins inside a steel ring driven by the impeller. It appears that the tolerance is to close and nothing spins freely. The electric motor spins perfectly w/12 volts without the pump...

It there anyone out there who is planning on painting their RV-12? If you are willing to drive to the Toledo, OH area you can have the two wing rotisseries and stabilator holding jigs that I used to paint my 12. If no one claims these jigs before next weekend (10/11/25) they will be...

Can't get to last pop rivet on Rudder bottom ribs
Step 3 on Page 07-10 says to attach the two Bottom Ribs together using pop rivets in 11 holes. The 10 aft ones were easy but I cannot get to the forwardmost one because the rudder horn is in the way. Is there a trick to doing this one?

Need help Section 09-16
Doing some riveting tonight and got to 09-16 step 3. It says to rivet the E-903 and E-904 tip ribs to the spar. The diagram shows a call out for 2x AN470AD4-4 for each one to rivet to the end flange of the spar. There is no call out to rivet the end flange of E-904 to the web of the spar. The...
