Day three of a cold. Dumb ‘ol body ;^). Last one was September 20, 2023. A year and a week without a cold, so no complaints really - I was due. And, I’m pretty sure it was the lady that sneezed on me in the queue at the Nashville airport while waiting to get on a SWA flight back home from side job #2. I was in boarding group A, single digit number. I got that seat next to the wing emergency door on the left side with the extra legroom - no seat in front of you. Baby! It was a pretty sweet situation til the airborne droplets came a callin. There’s probably a country song in there somewhere… “They climbed on somewhere around Nashville“.

The RV grin is starting to grow on my face. Moved to the airport and attached to wings after it arrived. My A&P that is doing the condition inspection on my Bonanza came down and lended a hand. He brought some super slippery lube and the spar bolts seated with encouragement from a mallet.
The wrecker guy was super. He really went the extra mile securing the plane and it earned him a $100 tip. You could see the RV grin on his face when I gave it to him.
The FSDO also called and inspection is on Tuesday afternoon. Insurance agent called and taken care of and I need a sign off from a CFI with 25 hours in type.
Today was a good day!

Yesterday I finished the installation of the complete set of upholstery, seats and panels from Classic Aero Designs. I could not be happier! I wanted to make sure I took a moment to share my satisfaction here because Classic Aero really deserves the recognition. What an awesome product. What an awesome service and customer support. Just can't say enough..
The parts of the kit fit perfectly and the looks is great. I could not believe how sturdy they end up being. And talk about the creativity to make the parts and to plan how it would all come together. Really impressed with Classic Aero Design product.
One thing that I really loved about the experience was that the order comes complete. For real. I mean even the tools that are specially required for the job they will provide with the kit.
It was rewarding to have a kit coming together with no surprises as I flipped the manual pages. Anyone interested in talking about the product, welcome to message privately.

Well 20 years after my QB tanks were built - I got me a weeping rivet. Before I cut the tank open - I think I will try the "force some goo in from the outside" method. I read about the syringe method, but what if we could make that in to a power tool? Rocket Bob mentioned a buddy forcing the goo in with a blow gun. I like this idea and have a blow gun. I also have a 3d printer and highly suspect cad skills. All of this led me to this:

Insurance Tips: Building a new project

Building an aircraft can be a fun, educational and exciting time, but it can turn disastrous if you are not properly insured. With a builders risk policy, you can be covered from the first piece of the puzzle to the time the aircraft is moving under its own power. You can even put fuel in the tank and start the engine with a builders policy, but don’t let that aircraft get away from you! Once it’s moving under its own power, there is no coverage. However note that transportation of the aircraft to the airport is covered. You also have the option to add liability coverage in order to help protect you if someone is injured while helping you work on your project. This liability will also protect you if while trailering the aircraft, a part falls off of an open bed trailer and damages someone else’s property.
…Once you are ready to fly, you may be able to make a quick change to the policy to update it to flying coverage. If that doesn’t work, you can always get the policy shopped out with the other companies that offer coverage during the fly-off phase. Please note that you may not be eligible for full flight coverage in the future if you do not meet the insurance companies pilot requirements. As a reminder for those pilots building a tailwheel aircraft, most companies are requiring 25 hours tailwheel before offering quotes.
…Of course, all claims are based on a case-by-case basis.

TL/DR: 10/10 just go!
I recently had the opportunity to attend the Lycoming factory authorized training class in Williamsport, PA and wanted to type up a quick review.
This class is a week long (monday to friday) 8am to 4pm or 5pm each day. The class is held at the local technical college in Williamsport, PA a few miles from Lycoming headquarters.The course gives an in-depth review of Lycoming power plants, history, theory of operations, etc. Each component is reviewed. Going into the workshop we tore down (in groups of 3 or 4) a Lycoming O-360 and then built it back up again over the course of the week. By the end of the week my confidence was hugely boosted and taking on an engine overhaul (with A+P supervision) does not seem like such a daunting task anymore.

I hate looking for Sanding blocks , scissors etc when I need to sand something. I’ve been doing this for years now . Works well wet or dry.
Get some Floor Mats from Harbor Freight and and some 3m spray adhesive. Glue the sandpaper to the back side of the floor mat.
I trim around the glued paper with a bandsaw , then set up a backstop to cut out the sanding blocks on the same saw . Write what grit it is with a sharpie on the back side . I have a box of assorted grits , makes sanding easy.
