Update
Thanks to everyone for the input. Based on all of this and some insight help from mechanical engineer wife (NASA) I went ahead and added a single AN960-10 washer, a new AN365-1032 nut and torqued it to 24in-lbs and the elevators are solidly connected—no differential movement. I torque-striped the nut and will pay close attention between now and my upcoming ACI, where I’ll have a subject matter expert review the elevator and all other control systems etc. Again I appreciate all of the help.

RV-3B
Here's where I decided to mount an EarthX ETX680C battery. I don't think any of their others, unless they are considerably smaller, will fit. The hatch is currently off because I'm still building and working in that area. No CG yet.
The bottom hinge will get riveted. Not shown, there's a vent hole in the aft end of the cowl cheek extension in case the battery ever vents out.

Unexpected RV-7A elevator differential movement
Interesting. I also noticed in Mike Bullock’s post regarding this connection that he found the -14 was too long so he switched to a -13 which he said “was perfect” Correction: -14A was too long so switched with -13A

CG of ready RV 3
I am currently building an RV3B and would like to install the UL-Power 390iS engine. This engine is about 44 lbs (20 kg) lighter than a Lycoming O-320 but about as heavy as an O-235 or O-290 engine. Hence my question: Are finished RV3Bs more tail-heavy or more nose-heavy? It would be ideal to...

Looking for a special T fitting.
I have updated my standard pitot to a Dynon and will be plumbing the pitot line out of the Dynon back to the original pitot hard line. That line terminated on a bulkhead fitting that served as the pitot mount. I think that’s standard for other models. This bulkhead fitting served as a good...

Transporting a Partially Completed Kit
I’m purchasing an RV-8 kit that is partially complete, and I could use some advice on transporting it. Transport distance is about 85 miles. The fuselage is mostly complete with the landing gear and tail section attached as well as the engine. This obviously constitutes the largest part of the...

VAF Charity Cap: Help your charity and promote this site.
Get the cap all the cool kids are wearing! I don’t get a penny. It’s around $15. $5 more if you want your N-number on the back (I put 'STAFF' on the back of mine because it makes me laugh. Put STAFF on yours too if it makes you smile). And down the road $10 to the charity of your choice...
