Had enough RV news to build up a Sat/Sun edition. Enjoy. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

…AMP100 Hall Effect & #2 Wire
I made a quick and dirty nylon spacer on the lathe and glued it in place:

That's the return line from the 1/2 Raven air-oil separator. It does a pretty good job of keeping oil off the belly for simple aerobatics.

TASEsq Canopy Crack Update
This canopy and I really aren’t getting along. An update: I used my scrap piece and tried to wick in some weld on 3. This did absolutely nothing. It went into the countersink and just sat there - didn’t seem to wick into the cracks at all. Not even a tiny bit.

Tim 8-A Panel Update
More eye candy.
I didn’t build the plane it was completed in 2014 by a well known member of VAF, CharlieWaffles (Mark) I purchased his plane 11/23.
The TT AP was becoming intermittent and needed to be replaced. The panel needed a few other upgrades it had GTX 327 and NavWorx.
Instead of the apparent choice, the Dynon AP, I decided to go the route of the Garmin AP I fly behind the G3X system in my 8a and it’s rock solid.
The Advanced EFIS and engine, monitor are also rock solid so as of now I see no reason to upgrade to a complete G3X. I’ll wait until the new Garmin PFD screens come out then decide if it’s worth making the change.
Along with the AP, I also upgraded
Legacy 750 to an XI.
The PSEngineering PAR100ex to PAR200B
The GTX327 to the GTX345.
I kept the NavWorx for ADSB on the main screen, and now have ADSB on the 750ix through the 345.
Advanced doesn’t have XM capabilities so I kept the XM receiver mounted under the panel.

Ironflight Rocket Update
F1 Build Status - It’ll Fly on Tuesday…..
I keep getting asked how the Rocket project is progressing, so I guess I’ll post a little update. I tend to post little building shop notes on the Kitplanes website, but haven’t done a lot of updating here. AS you can see in the pictures, I recently finished the tail (putting fiberglass tips off...

AMP100 Hall Effect & #2 Wire
I was planning on putting my AMP100 Hall Effect sensor on the #2 wire from my battery so that I could connect it to my GEA24 to read the net amount of current going out of my battery. I was also hoping it could read negative so I could see the rate at which the battery was charging but I...

Mixture cable to Avstar NNSS5 servo
The mixture cable attach in section 50 was somewhat contradictory in that OP-22 and section 50 and the rv14A wrap around view are all different. The rod end bearing attaches on the inboard side of the mixture arm in OP-22. In section 50 it attaches on the outboard side. In the wrap around view...

Christmas Eve Canopy Heartbreak
I feel like I need to scrap my whole canopy… I’ve been working so hard to get a nice edge to my fibreglass fairing, remove the last layer of tape and found this. I’m very worried I’ll come out on Christmas morning to find my canopy cracked in half. Is this a massive problem? What do I do...

= remote fuses that are not replaced during flight was my choice). You might note that, technically, this is not legal for night flight (your op limits surely say you must follow 91.205(b) for night operations, and that says ‘fuses accessible in flight’). Now, what the actual risk is, I’m not...

Notam / Lesson learned - Fuel line touching the exhaust
So I did something stupid. I know. Fortunately, this one did not cause any incident. But I'll admit my mistake, so others can learn as well. It's easy to be in a certain mindset when working on an aircraft, and forget that everything is connected. A change in one area can cause a change in...

Exhaust Flange Cylinder #3
Two flights ago my carbon monoxide in the cabin rose to 40 ppm on takeoff. I attributed this to outside air vents closed and heat on both sides fully open and climbing at full throttle. However a few days ago I had the opportunity to fly and the carbon monoxide went up to 60 ppm on takeoff...
