I'd argue the arrival process is the only sore thumb. They do a masterful job elsewhere for an event that only happens one week a year.

To be fair, the arrival process isn't the problem; it's pilots who don't know and follow the process that are the problem.

Problem is that the SOS property isn't in the city limits, it's in Winnebago County.

Has anyone seen Fred Mooney? Oh, Hi Fred glad you made it too. No issues with battery after I got on the road. Still replaced on Friday (it was 2 months out of warranty)

Our flights to and from OSH required IFR to get across the Appalachians

I feel that. West Virginia is the bane of our Oshkosh travel. The Appalachians are certainly no picnic in the winter (I think Ernest Gann said they were the worst ice-producing location *on the planet*), but the summer often sees low ceilings and fog in the morning quickly followed by building cumulus and convection in the afternoon. We’ve done it VFR in a Cessna 120 one time, got a great weather window, but almost every other time IFR and a suitable airplane are required. And even then we’ve had to cancel, even with a clear Ohio destination. I don’t like flying over low IFR, few airports, and mountains on the way there!

The weather gods were amazing once Monday arrived. The entire week was perfect temperature, no storms and the smoke was gone. All who attended were really fortunate considering that both the week before Oshkosh and forecast for this coming week are hot, humid, rain and the return of smoke,

Mike somehow I missed you at Osh dude! next year 2027. The weather turned out great. I'll have my bird painted and for sure need my pants and gear fairings on to gain the 12-15knts

While I feel bad for everyone in HBC, money usually talks. Everyone in Warbird camping hates SOS equally as bad, SOS in a place where EAA gets to have no opinion on what happens over there.

We camped close to the HBC pavilion. The free coffee was a godsend every morning, showers great in the evening, and a bit of bourbon before bed tempered the SOS sounds....
