SkyView glitching

I'm New Here
My skyview has started glitching. Screen goes to multi-color vertical lines and quits working, sometimes while in flight. Switching it off and back on seems ro fix it temporarily but it is starting to occur more frequently. Any idea what the cause of this glitch could be?

I recently experienced a garbled screen on my AF-4500 Advanced Flights System EFIS. I called AFS and was told it was likely caused by a lose and/or dirty ribbon connector for the screen. AFS directed me to an online tutorial with pictures on how to open the box, disconnect and clean the connectors, reconnect, then hot glue the connectors.

I did the procedure but the symptoms only worsened with my screen going completely dark. After calling AFS and discussing the issue, I sent the unit back to them. They diagnosed the issue as a non-operational backlight generator module. They replaced that, did some testing, calibration, and updates and shipped it back after indicating it was working.

I haven’t reinstalled it yet but I trust it will work.

The folks at AFS have been outstanding. The customer service is exceptional. The turn around. Was one week with ground shipping.

I hope it’s an easy fix.

Best to just get an RMA from Dynon and send it in for repair. I've had to do this a couple of times and it is not going to get better or fix itself.

I agree, talk with Dynon and send it in. They will likely make some other needed improvements to your unit plus update the firmware. I sent mine in last fall during my annual for a very minor vertical line showing up. It was a very reasonable cost in my opinion to have the whole screen replaced.

Had the same issue with my SkyView ... It required sending the unit to Dynon for repair. Dynon replaced some internal memory and updated the software. I lost the RV-12 splash screen you see at boot up so needed to reinstall that file.

My RV-12 splash screen was fine after my repair.
