Service bulletin for Overhead Pedals

I purchased a beautiful RV6A last October. while doing the condition Inspection I decided to comply with the Overhead Rudder Pedal service bulletin. after 3 days being under the panel
I pulled all the bolts, and cotter pins that hold the hydraulic cylinders in place ; a nasty job!! then I removed all the bolts holding the nylon blocks in place. it was cool until I found out there wasn't enough room the remove the rudder pedal assembly. Obviously, this assembly was put in before everything else was enclosed with sheet metal! I can't get the end blocks past the
bulkhead no matter what I try! And it's impossible to remove those end blocks; just too tight!!
So if anyone was able to comply with this bulletin, please let me know how you did it!

I replaced the RV-6 floor mounted rudder pedals with overhead in 2001. I seem to recall using a sawzall to cut the old pedals out.

Were the blocks split horizontally?
From my memory, that was part of the installation instructions. I have had mine out - but I don't think they would have come out with one piece end blocks.

They will in most cases - how the vents were installed is a variable that can impact the process. But I removed the pedals from a couple of airplanes when that SB was published. I was 25 years younger and more limber then...I'd probably ask my 15 YO to do it now. ;-)

Only the center block is split horizontally. The end blocks are not!!
 
The pedal assemblies will go in and out one at a time by them selves.
It requires a very specific orientation and the blocks have to be coaxed off both ends before removal and then put back in place after the assemblies are put back in place, when reinstalling.
 
The end blocks are not split per the manual but it is a great idea to split them prior to installing the new pedals. This will make installation much easier along with removal if necessary in the future. Put washers in between the split halves to account for the saw kerf, this assure proper clamping.
