Rv-8 wall panels/interior

My dad and I "finished" our RV-8 back in October 2021, and had first flight in spring of 2022, but the plane isn't really "finished" yet since I'm still working on the cosmetics on the inside of the cockpit. We currently have our temporary seats still in use and I decided to make my own wall panels that are functional as well as matching the overall paint scheme.

The panels have a honeycomb pattern where I have made some attachments that snap in place (which I've decided to bond in place to be permanent once I like the placement). The panels are attached to the walls dual lock fasteners, similar to "velcro" but a stronger hold.

I made a form fitting headset hanger and controller box for the Bose A-20, cellphone pockets for out phones in their case, air worthiness certificate display, etc. I plan to post more pictures if anyone has any interest in this for their plane.

I'll post some updates if there's any interest in this project moving forward. Also pictures is my Tazmanian devil rear seat iPad mini mount. I have one for my full size iPad in a case as well. (air airport identifier is TAZ).

I notice that you don't have washer below the nut at the rear control stick torque tube.

I covered up the void area with the faux leather cover to keep stuff from falling down the hole and maybe jam up the control

Looks really cool, and the wall panels that can be used to hold items is very innovative!

I agree with PhatRV that covering the area around the rear stick is a good idea - stuff will fall down there, and we've all heard stories of something innocuous causing controls to be jammed.

Oh yeah definitely on the to do list to cover up the void. Going to have a vinyl boot to match the new vinyl interior that is incoming soon.

Nice job!

What is the tape you wrapped the seat bars with and the brackets you used to mount rear screen? Very NICE work.

The brackets for the rear screen are part of my 3D printed iPad designs that I sell. The particular mount in this picture is for a Pad Mini, but I have mounts all the way up to the iPad pro 11".

The tape is just carbon fiber vinyl in a roll, here is the one I used.
