Rotax 912is Delivery

I'm New Here
I recently received my new power plant kit, but am wondering if there is supposed to be parts list for the Rotax brand odds and ends....or just hope I got what I was supposed to get. There was a parts list for stuff I received in an attached cardboard box from Van's, but no parts list for the misc. items in the engine crate. There was also several back-ordered items that Van's said would be shipped at a later date form their parts list. Thanks for any insight.

I didn't receive a list of Rotax or Sensenich supplied parts with my kit either. Further complicating matters for me, the plans were in flux, and I didn't get the revisions for several months after the kit shipped. Some of the Van's supplied bags had parts that weren't needed anymore or listed on the packing list, and some things that where on the packing list were missing. It took a number of emails to Van's and a great deal of patience to sort everything out.

I wish I had better advice, but I think if you make your own list of everything in the engine crate, refer to it when something isn't found elsewhere and contact support if it doesn't make sense, you'll be ok. Things like the exhaust nuts where Van's states are on the engine were buried deep in one of those extra boxes in my kit, for example.

As for the back ordered parts, I ordered my engine in January 2025, it shipped and was delivered in December, but the last back ordered bag just shipped a couple of days ago. I was unfortunate to have run up against two redesigns due to discontinued 3rd party parts, but that was only apparently in retrospect. Van's gave me no information about the delays, which seems to be a common story these days.

Maybe we can make a crowdsourced list of items? I'm expecting my engine sometime in July or August and will be wondering the same thing, of course.

I received my engine last August. As @ravenstar stated, no list for the ROTAX or Sensenich parts. I just finished section 47 yesterday and so far everything was there. Backordered for me was just the cup holder. Besides for it not being a big deal, Vans just shipped it a few weeks later.
As for the ROTAX box, everything seemed to have been factory packed by ROTAX, meaning I even received the “free” Bose Noise Cancelling Headset in it. Same for the Sensenich, although those were not a lot of parts and some stuff for the prop is actually in the engine packs rather than the prop one.

Additional note as for parts (Section 45-47): Only thing I was searching for was the spacer plate for the prop S-01215 (Alternatively an A-1879 ROTAX Spacer 063), only to find out that my engine had the integral raised boss, meaning as per KAI I didn’t need a spacer. Thus, neither of those were supplied, but it took me a while to learn.

As for plans, I really recommend to download the most current version from the Vans homepage. For the RV-12 you can even do this without an account if you just google for the name of the plan, e.g. “47AiS/U”.

Thank you everyone for your input.
