Because of the importance of getting the jam nuts tight, I made a forked fixture that allows access in on the jam nut with a bent wrench.

Works great. A 9/16" offset box end wrench and a few minutes of quality time with the cutoff wheel. The socket is a garage sale item with some grinding to fit over the rod-end bearing.
