PJ12 + com hand held question

I need a radio to check out my Garmin 20 and be able for ground crew to communicate during phase !. Sportys PJ12+com looks like a good choice.
Comments / advice appreciated !

I bought two of them shortly after they came out and I’m not happy with them at all. The squelch function doesn’t work well at all, but I think it has something to do with the rubber antenna. My hope is that if I ever get a real antenna installed in my house and my hangar, the problem will disappear. I bought them and put them on a shelf for quite a while before I finally tried to use one of them. I was far beyond the satisfaction guaranteed promise, so I wasn’t able to return them.

The best handheld I’ve ever owned is an icom I bought in the 90’s!

I bought one two years ago and like it. Works well in the hanger listening to local traffic. Tried it once while flying my RV6 using the external antenna and it worked just fine. Nice that you don't need a headset adapter.
