OSH improved site reservations.

I’m confused by the improved site’s reservations so I thought I would ask here.
When improved camp site reservations open on June 26th, do you start paying for the site when you reserve it, or do you reserve a start date and pay for it through the end of the show? For example; We are planning on arriving midweek of the show and would like an improved camping spot (water and electric). My plan was to call when they open for reservations and reserve a spot starting on the Wednesday of the show. Then we would pay for the five days of camping. Do I have that right?

Nope, you have to pay from the time you secure it till the end of the show. I think you might be able to get a slight refund if you leave before the end of the show.

That’s a ton of money!

In my opinion you can buy an inverter generator and pay to have your tanks pumped and water filled for less than that. Been there done that many times.

Straight from the EAA website for camping reservations. Pay from the day you reserve. No call ins. Simple and straightforward, you just have to play campsite roulette

Improved Online Process​

A limited number of sites with water and electrical hook-ups are available at a higher daily rate than regular campsites, on a first-paid, first-served basis.

The Camper Registration building is no longer able to secure an improved site over the phone. If you have secured an improved site online, you will receive your camping credentials at the Camper Registration building when you arrive at AirVenture.

EAA's camping policy applies; a site must have a paid credential to be secured. No other form of reservation is allowed. Unlike camping credentials for basic sites, there are no refunds for unused days on water & electric sites.

Campers must pay from the day they secure the site through the end of the show.

Please note that improved sites are not available to book until Friday, June 26, 2026 at 7 a.m.

For the improved (water and electrical hook-up) sites you select a site online, reserve it and pay from that day (@$103 each) to end of show (7/26). The "preferred" ones (on the ends, in the middle, on higher ground, by a tree, what ever suits a person's fancy) go relatively quickly (within a couple of weeks of opening, in this case 6/26). But watch the EAA Camp Scholler website to keep track of how fast they're going & how many are left ... in my experience you could wait until a week or so before show start and still reserve a random one online; but as they say - YMMV !!
If there's not a powered one left (or you don't want to pay that much) then there's hundreds of unpowered ones available.
