OSH for plane shopping?

I am considering going to OSH for a plane shopping experience. Bro and sis in-laws live about 40 miles away... 10 miles from KPCZ...and I was just wondering if it would be a place to find planes for sale that might not be in <SNIP> typical sale sites.

Also, where would I find where all the VAF folks hang out. I'd really like to meet you folks. I have learned a great deal from this forum.

Walking homebuilt parking and homebuilt camping you'll see numberous planes with for sale signs. It's a little inconvenient for test flights.

There's a pavillion in HBC where you'll likely find VAF members, and if you go to the Van's dinner you'll see many there as well.

Note: I haven't been there for 5 years. Someone will be along with more recent info.

Thanks! Yeah, I have seen the billboard. I would rather wait to find someone willing to give me a ride in MUCH calmer skies, lol. I really just want to get introduced to the community and make some new friends. Who knows, I might run into that perfect plane that needs a new home.
In the mean time, I will go join my local EAA chapter (I joined one that I thought I would be going to regularly, but that changed), get my tailwheel endorsement, and keep dreaming. I also want to make sure my airplane is "right" before I sell it.
New question... is it better to sell my current plane myself, or get a broker?

One of my daily stops are the boards just outside the east entrance of the main EAA merchandise store next to the ATC tower. Those billboards get a lot of traffic during the week so always good to stop by to check out additions as the show progresses.

Pretty good for shopping but not for buying -- which takes time for inspecting the airplane, test flight, setting up insurance and financing, etc.

Yeah, I'm aware of all those things, thank you. I just thought it might give me some idea of the caliber of aircraft out there, price ranges, etc. Also... you never know... I could meet someone who lives sort of near me and is wanting to sell. Then the process of taking a flight, pre-buy, insurance and all the non-fun parts of owning a plane. But I bet I also meet some interesting folks along the way as well.

Honestly the best place to shop is to be part of the EAA/RV community and ask around. OSH is one part to see lots of different RV build quality and features but best is to follow up at local airports and chapters. To get best RV connections at OSH, be there at the beginning of the week and attend the RV social and walk the RV Homebuilt camping areas.

If you are serious about buying an RV and don't want to buy via the web advertised pages, then you need to define your mission (choose your RV model) and get the word out to the community. This site is obviously your first stop as many offer their plane up for sale here before it hits the market. Facebook also has RV specific pages that you can look at. But honestly, you are going to drive yourself crazy if you don't know exactly what you want.

Great advice. I have narrowed it down to 3. The -4, -7, and -8. I will start networking to locate a ride in one of each. Then I will know which I want. Just getting started. Trying to sell my current plane <SNIP>. Lots to do, but I am persistent.
