The NOTAM is out and available for download.
Especially the videos…looks pretty much like last years vfr approach
As far as VFR arrival I don't recall much in the way of changes other than minor tweaks since the year they added the IAP's starting at Endeavor Bridge. Same, same or have my reading skills deteriorated with age as fast as my dashing movie star goodlooks?looks pretty much like last years vfr approach
Same, same with some new additions of VFR reporting points and routes for pilots heading to Appleton (ATW).As far as VFR arrival I don't recall much in the way of changes other than minor tweaks since the year they added the IAP's starting at Endeavor Bridge. Oh, you funny manLets get it started...I'm flying the 135 knot lane.
You win the internet today.Lets get it started...I'm flying the 135 knot lane.
Same as last year, huh?My plan is to ignore it altogether, fly directly to Osh, call the tower on downwind and land against traffic on a taxiway.
No— last year I didn’t call the tower. Trying to be a better participant in the NAS this year.Same as last year, huh?
Pro tip: arrive IFR. Avoid the shenanigans.Lets get it started...I'm flying the 135 knot lane.
or just fly the "prison" approach...Pro tip: arrive IFR. Avoid the shenanigans.
A better pro tip: Follow the procedures in the NOTAM. Those procedures STRONGLY ENCOURAGE cancelling IFR and flying the Fisk arrival if the weather is better than 4500/5.Pro tip: arrive IFR. Avoid the shenanigans.
That procedure is not in the NOTAM and is not available to arrivals.or just fly the "prison" approach...
I’m going to fly IFR AND 135 knots!A better pro tip: Follow the procedures in the NOTAM. Those procedures STRONGLY ENCOURAGE cancelling IFR and flying the Fisk arrival if the weather is better than 4500/5.
Good to know Jeff...I be drivin' in anyway...That procedure is not in the NOTAM and is not available to arrivals.
I’ve flown in IFR the past 8 years and plan to do so again this year— it’s painless. Strongly encouraged means nothing. It’s either allowed or it isn’t— there’s no in between. At the moment it’s allowed—simple as that.A better pro tip: Follow the procedures in the NOTAM. There's nothing I can say to this that hasn't been said before. Good luck, fly safe, see you at the show.I’ve flown in IFR the past 8 years and plan to do so again this year— it’s painless. You and N4301R.My plan is to ignore it altogether, fly directly to Osh, call the tower on downwind and land against traffic on a taxiway.
He’s my mentor.You and N4301R.
Yup, mine came in earlier this week. A sure indicator the mental preparations are in progress. Spent some time yesterday shopping for a replacement tent, old one was pretty much being held together with Gorilla tape, rounding up my other camping gear & Oshkosh stuff. At this rate I'll be ready to go next week, then the slow crawl begins...tick, tock, tick, tockMy hard paper copy arrived in the mail today.
Yes! Planning on TUESDAY before the NOTAM myslef. Class D arrival procedures at that time.If you arrive on Wednesday before the NOTAM takes affect, do you just call the tower with the ATIS?
As stated, it's normal Class D at that point. After you land be prepared to tell Ground where you want to go in terms of taxiways as there probably won't be any marshallers; like "EAA Homebuilt parking via Papa-1", or something to that effect. Don't assume that the controller knows areas by name. IOW don't just say I want to go to HBC as they might not know where that is. Having the airport diagram or SafeTaxi up will help would. If you arrive on Wednesday before the NOTAM takes affect, do you just call the tower with the ATIS?
