Need advice re: canopy frame covers

My new to me 12 did not have the canopy frame covers installed. Although they were provided to me when I bought the plane about a month ago. I don’t have access to the build plans right now so I am asking here what’s involved in installing these? Are they screwed in or held in with adhesive? Are they purely cosmetic or do they provide some protection from the incoming air underneath the canopy, which in my case is significant. Finally, mine are gray, which I assume is how they came from the factory. Do most people paint them before they install them?

You’ll want to paint them to match your interior. They are attached with adhesive. Here’s a link to my plans for the canopy side moldings.

They do block some air, but not a lot. They’re really just cosmetic. I think they make for a nice finished look. This is my install.
