MSD P-mag wire kit

Just in case someone wants to make a set of MSD wires for P-Mags. Here's how I did it. Note: This is for a four cylinder setup.

The MSD kit includes a crimp block, wire labels and a tool to insert the wire. The latter didn't work for me.
No need for an expensive ratcheting crimper. The kit comes with a bunch of boots and terminals I didn't use. The boots and terminals in the terminal pack worked well.

Buy one each of these.
-Super Conductor Spark Plug Wire Set 8 Cyl 90° Plug, Socket/HEI Cap #31239
-LT1, 90 Degree Boots & Terminals, 8-Pack
-Dielectric Grease

Instructions...
-Pull a wire.
-Find an MSD similar length and cut it. Add some for posterity if you want.
-Lube the boot and an inch or so of wire.
-Insert and shove. Add lube as you go. Keep going till you ha e a few inches sticking out
-Use the strip block to strip what you want. I made the center conductor a little longer.
-Fold the conductor over the insulation and slip a terminal over it.
-Use a pair of pliers to squeeze it a little so it fits into the crimp block.
-Insert into the block.
-Slip the opposite block over with the two tabs on the same side.
-Drop it into the vise and squeeze. Don't over crimp.
-Remove
-Close the vise till the wire will slip through but not the boot. Slip it in place and pull till the terminal is flush to the edge of the boot. That's perfect for our P-mag coils.
-Test with an ohm meter. I got 100-200 ohms vs 400-500 for P-mag wires.
-Install. When you're finished, perform a pull through test.

Probably just me, but the spark seemed much stronger.

These are the spark plug wire terminals that fit the pMag.

Yes. If used, the boots included in the kit will fit. That terminal gets bent 90 degrees after crimping.
Saves the $54 for the MSD Terminal Boot kit.

You might want to post the other parts used for those who want to build. This is such a confusing project. At least it was for me.
Buy the 45 or 90 Deg ends and crimp on. Not much else needed to complete. 8.5 mm should also work ok. (with 8.5 mm wire) Good luck !

Howdy everyone. I just made new wires for my P-Mags and will be doing the install today. Anyhoo, below is what I just purchased. The right angle spark plug terminals, (first item pictured) are also available in the double crimp style. You have multiple color choices for the wires and you only need 1 pack of 25 for the P-Mag terminals, not 2. (Last item pictured.)

I reused the "old" plug wire boots as they were like new. (From the original P-Mag wires) I bought the crimping tool from Amazon for about $20. Be sure to purchase the proper crimper if you decide to use the double crimp terminals.

The double crimp terminals are great. Eliminates the risk from under crimping as well as damaging the core during installation.
