looking for RV12is Right Side Panel, to Print, trace and cut for new G3X GDU460 Install

Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased a second Garmin G3X GDU 460 to install on the right side of my RV-12iS. The aircraft was originally built with a single display.

I’m looking for a 1:1 printable PDF, DXF, tracing, or verified dimensions for Van’s right instrument panel, P/N F-00065, showing the exact GDU 460 cutout location.

I already have Garmin’s GDU 460 cutout template. What I need is the RV-12iS-specific placement relative to the panel perimeter and existing mounting holes so I can accurately transfer it to my current blank right-side panel.

Does anyone have a flat pattern, full-size scan, tracing, or verified edge dimensions for F-00065?

I’d prefer to reuse the existing panel rather than purchase another panel solely as a template and create unnecessary scrap.

Vans refuses to give out a drawing even though they do for all the other models. You can scale their dual screen KAI’s PDF if you take the time to print it and measure the dimensions between the GDU mount holes which is a known dimension provided by Garmin.

Otherwise just remove the left side, flip it over and use it as a template because the screens are symmetrically mounted.

Thank you. Removing the left side is indeed an option. Looks like tech support is down this week as 18 key folks are at Oshkosh.

I do like your idea to scale and check, I will try that first and see if the paper hole fits the left side, once the Garmin holes match.

I hope they can supply a pdf to print to scale. That would be easiest option.

Here is my attempt to convert the plans to a DXF. I didn't check my work and make no promises about it being correct. But you can try printing it to size and if the holes line up, it's probably okay.

Here is a link to a dxf that was created from a laser scan of the original panels from my legacy RV-12. It has been used for laser cut and waterjetted panels, so I know the hole locations are correct. Not sure if the 12iS uses the same pattern.

Of course, cutting your existing panel is a fine option but if you were to order would not be a panel/template scenario. You could just order the panel cut for the G3X
