I am in the early planning stages of an IFR panel in a RV-14. Looking for opinions or other options. Must be IFR in Canada so needs two independent navigation means.
I was going with the following for sure.
2- G3X
1- G5
1- GMC 507 auto pilot controller.
In addition to above option 1 or 2.
Option #1:
GTN 650
GNC 355 (GPS & Com)
GTX 45R ( Remote Transponder)
Option #2
GTN 650
GNX 375 (GPS & Transponder)
GTR 20 (Remote Com)
I think both option accomplish the same thing. Is there an advantage of one over the other? Do they all interface well with each other and the G3X? There is roughly a $1000 difference in price which I'm fine with if one option is better than the other.
I don't believe I have enough room in the centre to have a GTN 750, a 2nd GPS, and the auto pilot controller. Also what would the 750 give me over the 650?
Any input would be appreciated.
