Rather than having an assembly that has to have clearance with the cowl contours, how about just use the cowl contours and cap it off at the height needed to accommodate a properly sized filter? Then a scat tube to the throttle body. Less parts, less fitment issues, no inerta during the "wet dog shake", larger air cavity for less MP drop...
This is kinda the same idea as a remote mounted oil cooler but doing the same thing in reverse direction with the combustion air. Downsides: will prob need a small hole below filter to prevent any potential water pooling, alternate air actuation needs to be disconnected when cowl removed, possible challenge to reconnect SCAT-aft section if removing/reinstall cowl)
Dare I say there is a free lunch here? What am I overlooking?
