Gone West: Sun n' Fun Air Boss George Cline

If you've ever enjoyed the Sun n' Fun airshow or many others, pray charge your glass and make a toast to the West tonight, longtime Sun n' Fun Air Boss George Cline passed away this morning.

As Air Ops Liaison I worked with him a lot in the Air Boss Tower at Sun n' Fun, he'd occasionally "use a loud voice" at me if something went wrong until it was fixed, then 5 minutes later turn around, slap me in the stomach, wink and say "You know I don't mean it when I yell at you, Duck." After one time his son Brad put his arm around me and said "Welcome to the family!"

George was local to me here in central NC. We worked together for many years putting on the Winston-Salem Airshow, myself as "groundboss", George as the ulimate "Airboss". Anyone who has been around him knows, he was always on top of the game, professional and most of all, a genuine guy who LOVED what he was doing. He will be missed dearly across the Airshow world and beyond...RIP and Blue Skies my friend.
