Decided to design a version of the RV-8 canopy pull I fabricated on the mill, followed by some quality time with the files, on my previous 8 project.
Drew it up in OnShape and got pricing from CraftCloud and PCBway in printed 6061. About $25 ea IIRC, but almost doubled with shipping and duties. Had two made.
Finish is grainy and some defects on one side with porosity, etc. I just had the pilot holes made for finish drilling and tapping once I got them.
But, some more quality time with the files, abrasive cloth, 3M wheel, finishing with the buffer. Looks good.
I'd want to do some testing for anything structural, and would probably defer anyway, but for stuff like this, I like it.
Price is low enough to be a consideration.
As-received vs finished, and the original "carved" version
