EZ-QUICK ("Oakie" ClickBond)

As Dave Paule said, I gave him this idea for DIY "ClickBond" type adhesive based anchor nuts. A ClickBond is nothing more (really) than an anchor nut attached to a base with a proprietary adhesive delivery system, at great cost/unit.

I just make a shape out of thin (~> .020 2024-T3), round, square, triangular, long leg on one side - you name a shape you need to fit your job and then make one that can be "roughed" up a bit, riveted to an anchor nut of your choice - from #4's to whatever, clean mating faces (best you can), slather a bit of 3M DP-190 (or 3M 2216) epoxy aerospace adhesive on the DIY bond face and use a headless screw the size of the anchor nut, screwed in a few turns, to center the whole thing over the hole you want to attach the fastener. Run a nut on the outside surface for take up until partially cured - then remove.

I have done shear tests on this process and 2 - 1" diameter circular "Oakie" clickbonds required 1500 lbs of pull to fail them from the parent material.

Attached are a few samples that I have used. In addition to nut plates I have also made similar standoffs using phenolic (or garolite) as a base material.
