Elevator Trailer edge, Tape or Tank Sealant

So my plans show using tank sealant, but I seem to remember vans changing to allow for the 3m tape for trailing edges which they sell. Can someone confirm this or am I mistaken?
I am getting close to this stage; I have tank sealant for the SB but cannot stand that stuff and if I can use the tape for the trailing edge I will.
Thanks

I used the tape method on my -14 rudder and tank sealant on the elevators, flaps, and ailerons and on all of the surfaces on my -10. Much prefer the tank sealant for holding things in place to rivet. Ideally, you can use sealant and then cleco to a straight edge until it sets up, then rivet. I had a section of U channel that I used for all of my trailing edges on my -10.DSCN1523 (Medium).JPGDSCN1521 (Medium).JPG
