Elastomeric Gear Pads

This applies to all the "A" models with Elastomeric Gear. The destructions mention adding up to three pads as needed. I don't see the method to add them. I'm slow. What's the process?
Jack the tail down to lift the nose.
Remove the nut
Allow the gear to drop
Add the pads
Reverse the process

Is that right? Will the gear drop enough to slip the pads in place?

Just remove the bar with the rubber from the gear leg and it will come apart, assuming the design is the same as the 10.

Is there a spec height you're trying to hit? Has the elastomer stack settled a bit?
The nut has hit bottom. No more adjustment. I need to add the pads to add adjustment for next Condition Inspection. Since I have it all apart for CI, I might as well get it done.
