How does one make the animated ads that Doug has on this site? Take the new Flight Data Systems ad for example, how you make a .gif file animated like this?

Is it built an Adobe Flash?

It's magic!

There are a number of tools that will create animated GIF files, most of the web graphics toolsets have something that will do it. Basically it is a series of slides that display in-order. I've done some simple ones.

There are a number of tools that will create animated GIF files, most of the web graphics toolsets have something that will do it. Basically it is a series of slides that display in-order. I've done some simple ones.

Another quick idea is to make a simple movie of consecutive images and then implement that into flash as one repeating object, or use another program to translate between video and internet. As per programs to make a movie, MovieMaker is free in Windows XP (don't know about Vista), or Adobe Premiere if you want a cleaner, more professional look. Of course, if you use an Apple, you will not use either of those products.
