Aerosport Power review

I attended the build class for my 540 at Aerosport this week.

Fantastic experience, and I highly recommend doing the build school.

The shop is located in Kamloops Canada, a bit of hike from pretty much everywhere. However, plenty of places to stay, restaurants, planet fitness and grocery stores.

The class started Monday morning with a quick shop tour (got a cool NDT demo). After the tour, I was quickly turning wrenches with Terry. Terry has been there for a long time, and has built too many motors to count. He is very meticulous and insists on things being perfect. I really felt like he cared about my motor as much as I did (and maybe even a little more). It is very rare today to find that, my moto is usually no one cares about your crap like you do; not so with Terry. Terry also kept it light with his great sense of humor and many stories. In addition he answered every question I had in a friendly manner explaining things in as much detail as I needed. For the class they will let you do as much or as little as you want to do. I did choose to let him put the silk in the case split.

It took us about a day a half to assemble everything (I will say Terry had things very well prepped so everything was ready to bolt together). After assembling it went to the test area and I help prep the motor for the test run with Alan and Zack. Another wonderful experience. Great guys and very helpful, and also answered all my questions. After prep, they ran the motor on the test stand Wednesday morning. It was good to see it start and run, everything ent well.

One of my goals for the class was to be able to assemble the rebuild when the time comes. However after attending the class and working with Terry I will be back when the time comes. I feel confident, with the Lycoming manual I could do it myself. But I'll pay for the added benefit of having Terry there to watch over me and make sure everything is perfect.

There were some communication issues (new phone system or something) and Terry took it on himself to monitor forums and Facebook for folks trying to contact them. He got me in contact with Rob, the owner. After that I established comms with Jeremy for the rest of the coordination.

Again overall outstanding, I will be back, and highly recommend them.
