29-10; Second Canopy Latch?

Hi Gang,

Sec 23-10, Figure One states: NOTE: There is only one set of C-01422 Canopy Latch Brackets.

Does this imply I can add a second latch on the right-side? If so, is there an upside to adding a second latch? Or was this a big head fake...?

Rick.

For the minimum, it would mean each time you are opening the canopy, you will need to reach out and unlock/unlatch the other side at the same time. In an emergency, this would be a challenge and might become an issue. If the latching system working effectively as it should, it would present an even bigger challenge to open it from the outside since both side need to be unlatched at the same time.
Good luck with that.

Rick, there is only one set of brackets to hold the bell crank that transfers the motion of the latch handle to the canopy latch pin on the left side. The bell crank is part of an assembly that includes a rod that has an arm on the right side that operates the canopy latch pin on the right side. I'm probably not describing it very well but you'll see when you get there.

You mean section 29-10...They're telling you not to look for a second set because only one is required.
