Calling Titan owners ref: cables and brackets

While I'm still several months out from hanging my engine, I am starting to plan on what FWF parts to gather. Does anyone who has a Titan 370 know their cable lengths for throttle and mixture? I know I can drop a lot of $ on Mcfarlane's but how are the stock Vans or ACS ones?
Will the stock Van's throttle and mixture brackets work for the Titan? And finally, did you use the plans location for the firewall penetrations for throttle/ mixture?

Thanks in advance. Its getting exciting to be thinking about these items!
Just need to tidy up a few wires on the avionics then its canopy then engine!
 
It very much depends on the version of the engine. Is it carbureted, fuel injected, up draft or forward facing air intake. Superior cold induction or Titan sump. Airflow Performance or Precision injection system. All require different brackets and control cables.
 
I just finished replacing a Superior IO-360 M1B on my RV7A with the Titan. Mine has the Superior sump and Precision fuel injection. The control cables and brackets I have originally came with Van’s fire wall forward kit. I was able to use all three cables but not the brackets and ended fabricating my own. The mixture cable was slightly too short but with a 2” extension screwed on the end it was reusable. Bear in mind that this is with the Precision servo, the AFP one is different so it may not work on it. No issue fitting the governor control. Be aware that the exhaust system Van’s sells for the Lycoming M1B will not fit. Clint from Vetterman’ Exhaust expediently fabricated me one that does. If you have the 195 hp version of the Titan it needs a larger oil cooler. I had to remote mount the RV 10 oil cooler on the fire wall. So far I only have five hours on the engine. It is strong and smooth but the high compression version definitely produces more heat. Hope this helps. Martin Sutter

I’m just watching RyanFlys on YouTube. He’s put a Titan IO-370 on an RV-7 and detailed it quite well. Although he’s doesn’t say if he used the standard Vans brackets.

Yeah, when he got to engine work the detail dropped off considerably. Which I don't blame him, I can't imagine how much extra work filming adds.
His videos up to that point are amazing.

I did use the existing fire wall penetrations (per Van’s plans). Worked perfectly for throttle and governor. Mixture was not ideal but doable. A slightly longer cable would have been better.
 
Mine had the Titan sump and custom side consoles, so all my cables were custom lengths. With the Superior sump you should be in better shape for standard lengths. But, if you can wait to measure and have an existing Vans cable to reference, use some old RG-59 coax cable to simulate the cables. It's of similar diameter and bend characteristics. Measure a Vans cable to find out where they reference the measurements and then use that to get your custom lengths.
