I have no experience with these boxes and I'm trying to help a friend who's working toward his interment rating.

I suggested he download the emulator software so he can practice and get proficient at zero knots but he said the emulators at this link are no longer functional.

Are any of you aware of a downloadable or online emulator for the 430W/530W series Garmin navigator?

I am able to download the emulator from that link just fine. I found that watching YouTube videos was very helpful. If he has Microsoft Flight Simulator, that would be the best option

Thanks for the feedback. I tried downloading and installing the 430W emulator myself. At first, Windows said it couldn't run because it's a 16 bit application. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what changes I made but I eventually got it to work on my Win 11 machine.

I'll see if I can get it running on my friend's' machine.

I downloaded the 430 emulator- probably 10 yrs ago, and ran it on the Windows PC I had at the time. IIRC, back then, the PCs were 32 bit. Perhaps on today’s 64 bit PCs, it won’t run? Maybe you need an older PC, or perhaps you can emulate 32 bit (or 16?). Sorry, my PC skills are fading.

If you figure out out please please post it. I have tried and came close to setting up an old XP machine to try to run it

The installer (and maybe the program too) are 16-bit. you can't run 16-bit processes on 64-bit windows. I think your best bet would be to spin up a 32-bit windows XP VM (virtual machine). Or you can look to see if there are other virtualization environments that can be used to run a 16-bit program on 64-bit windows.
