Shout out to Kevin at Tosten.

I decided I wanted the left hand buttons (autopilot disconnect) on my cs-8 grips to be red, and enquired with Kevin about painting them.

He told me he has red buttons now, and we were chatting about how FedEx want’s $77 USD to ship them to me. He said he would try and do something cheaper. That was the end of April and to be honest it had slipped my mind.

Lo and behold! a grand surprise in today’s mail! No charges levied by Kevin. What a legend!

We happened to be driving through Carlsbad last week with a little time to kill, so dropped in on Kevin to talk about th enw Haptics grip he;s developing and that we have installed in one of our planes for testing. What a great little operation he has - direct contact with customers, makes most parts himself, and he can customize anything! A real homebuilder, he knows how to experim,enta to build what you need. And he’s got some neat shop toys for fabricating that will make any electronics guy envious…..

Yep. I called to try and buy the small printed circuit board on the base of my passenger Military Grip. I was performing surgery to swap the cable for a Hirose cable. He just sent one no charge. Amazing.

If you have the Military grips (11 pins total) and want a removable grip on the passenger side, the HangTon Hirose 12 Pin Male to 12 Pin Female is the way to go. You probably should get a replacement circuit board. Taking the old cable out will possibly damage traces. Install the cable so the Female end is the stick. Male end comes up from below and terminates to the stick harness. That way the pins won't get debris. The cable just fits through the bearings. The stick bolt or Pin clears the cable. I rubbed a little silicone on the cable so it would slide up between the bearings. Removal is easy. Pull the grip. Unplug. Remove the stick.
