Thursday I got my ‘SIC required’ limitation removed from my King Air 350 type. Finally got around to cashing in some simulator green stamp booklets, and knocked out the single pilot check ride. Dress rehearsal and check ride one after the other, same day. SOE signed off also. There are a lot of buttons in this thing spread out in a mostly non-logical manner (PRO-LINE 21), no FADEC protection, and the single pilot go around is more challenging than it is in either the Phenom or Gulfstream checks.
SP King Air 350 OEI ops might be the most challenging aviation I’ve been exposed to.
Hopefully this leads to a little more side work. Just being ballast in the right seat working the gear and radio gets a little boring, when the occasional contract flight comes up. Fingers crossed.
Flying the RV, and getting both my instrument and commercial types in it sure did help with the motor skills. That King Air is pretty pitch sensitive. Sound familiar? :-)
Wishing you and yours a happy, safe and RV-filled weekend.
I’m off to go pour some cold water on my brain.
I. Am. Tired. ;^)

PS: Planning on going out to the airport this weekend to re-introduce myself to the RV-6. I hope it remembers me.

Van's Aircraft's head of engineering Rian Johnson, who is also the chair of the ASTM F37 committee working on the new MOSAIC program, talked to the local EAA chapter recently on what the FAA's approval of MOSAIC means to pilots, owners, and aircraft builders. MOSAIC will provide a more affordable certification basis for new airplanes, in addition to dramatically expanding the range of aircraft that can be flown by Sport Pilots. Rian, fully in engineer mode, dives deep into the MOSAIC specifics here.

Mark Dickens.
….show us your 14 panel
Nothing special here. I designed the panel in Adobe Illustrator, had it laser cut at SendCutSend and I did all the wiring, and installation. I'll mount my iPad on the right side angled toward me. VPX Sport for power management, I enjoy doing this kind of thing and saved a lot of $$$ over having someone else do the work.

Doug, the BE-300 type is the hardest SP type I've ever done. If you change one thing, you have to then change six more things. Every. Time. Congrats.

Congratulations Doug! We get a nice King Air 350 that comes into SHN regularly. I thought for sure the first time it came in you were here to check on my 7 project. All the best.
