Got the first two solo flights done in my -4 yesterday. I've owned it since February and it was an exercise in patience and going here and there to get brushed up on the tailwheel skills again and doing transition in an -8. The ferry pilot stopped by and we did several circuits in his -6 in advance. He took off after me and flew my wing, landed before I did, and said landing looked like a sore-footed butterfly touching down. Ag Pilots do have a way with words. This is gonna be a fun challenge in flying this little plane well and safely. Now the learning and fun begin! Thanks to you all for your help. And Yeah, I'm working on the RV grin. It really comes naturally after a few minutes...be safe!

Well done and don't try to claim the pain in your face from the continuous grin on your health insurance it will slightly relax after some time has passed.
I won't. And since I'm on Medicare now I wouldn't want the Gov't to know how much fun one can have in an RV...

Rick57,
Never heard that term before.
It is a keeper.

Yep, and now I feel compelled to do ALL of them the same way...Jeesh
rick57,
During the 1960's there were counter War and counter culture protests (from your tag-you may remember them), the government was tasked with a non-lethal way to neutralize the protesters. They invented a sprayed foam that was so slippery, once sprayed at the protesters, they would all fall down. It was called banana spray or banana grease.
When I land so smoothly, that the passengers can't tell that we have actually touched down, I log a "banana landing". Some note "greasers".
When it is even a higher level- banana greaser.
I then set goals like ten in a row.

That is the goal, and greaser sounds better than sore-footed butterfly landings....but hey it's funny!
I was too young to serve at that time. Because of my vision, no one would let me fly after graduating from TAMU so I got a job and bought a C120 and learned to fly. And now that the kids are mostly out of the house and on their on, I can now fly again. And I'm fortunate to have a hangar neighbor who is now retired and has built a -4,-6 and -7. And just finished a CH 750 cruiser. And my -4 is only 10 mins away at KARM. So, my aim is precision and competence and having fun doing that! There is a bunch of great folks on VAF. That is a blessing as well. Stay safe, have fun. Rick

I'm satisfied when 1 in 10 landings are greasers...as long as I don't have to fix something, they are perfect.

There is a story out there about Downeast Airlines, that they have a sign that comes on when they have landed to let the passengers know. A fictitious story that was based out of Monton New Brunswick
